Our take
I recommend Atipik Hôtel for one reason above all: its address. Lake Annecy is 200 metres away and the medieval old town begins at the door, so everything worth seeing is within a short walk. Rooms are simple but air-conditioned, which matters in summer, and breakfast is a buffet. Do not expect the services of a larger hotel; an 8.3 score from more than 1,300 reviews is solid for a two-star.
- ✓Take advantage of the proximity to the old town for evening walks and dining.
- ✓Walk to the lake shore in the morning for a peaceful start to your day.
- ✓If you're arriving by train, the hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the station.

Why guests love itAtipik Hôtel is 200 metres from Lake Annecy, at the entrance to the medieval old town and its pedestrian shopping streets, which is hard to beat for a family on foot. Rooms are en suite and air-conditioned, with free WiFi and flat-screen TVs showing international channels. A breakfast buffet starts the day. It is a two-star, so rooms are simple and facilities limited, but the location does most of the work. More than 1,300 reviews give it 8.3.
