About this stay

Rue Sainte-Claire is the arcaded street of Annecy's old town, and Les Loges holds just five apartments there, sleeping up to 18 guests in total. Some units are duplexes or spread over three levels, so the building lift does not spare you the stairs inside the apartment. The old town is largely pedestrian: guests get reserved parking nearby rather than at the door, which matters when unloading luggage. Kitchens come with an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a wine cabinet and a Nespresso machine, and every apartment has satellite TV, a hi-fi system and Wi-Fi. The hammam in each bathroom is a steam setting of the shower, not a separate room. The lift cabin measures 80 by 130 cm, a useful detail for a pushchair, and one unit is adapted for wheelchair users with assistance.

  • Five apartments from a 26 m² studio to a 62 m² triplex, up to 18 guests in total
  • Fireplace, air conditioning and a steam shower in every unit
  • Kitchen with oven, dishwasher, wine cooler and Nespresso machine
  • Lift of 80 by 130 cm and one unit adapted for wheelchair users with assistance
  • Reserved guest parking, pets accepted with a supplement
  • Château d'Annecy about 200 m away on foot

Our take

Les Loges is five apartments, not a hotel: a 26 m² studio, two duplexes of 44 and 46 m² and a 62 m² triplex, each with a fireplace, air conditioning and a shower with a steam setting, which is what the residence calls its hammam; there is no separate steam room. I would book it for a couple who want a private, self-catering base on Rue Sainte-Claire, or for two families taking neighbouring units, up to 18 guests across the building. I would not book it for anyone who wants a restaurant, a pool or a lobby downstairs, or for light sleepers: several reviews mention noise inside the building at night, and the food market sets up below from 6 am three mornings a week.

  • ✓Arrival runs from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm; if your train or flight lands later, tell the residence beforehand, since the keys cannot simply wait at an empty desk.
  • ✓On Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings the old town food market sets up from 6 am at the corner of Rue Sainte-Claire and Rue de la République, so do not plan to drive or unload luggage then.
  • ✓Ask for the reserved guest parking or the access card for a public car park when you book: the lanes around Rue Sainte-Claire are pedestrian and there is no parking at the door.
  • ✓If you travel as four or five, the 62 m² triplex is the only unit with three sleeping spaces, but its three levels mean stairs inside, whatever the building lift does.

Why we love it

  • A fireplace and air conditioning in every apartment
  • A shower with a steam setting in each bathroom
  • An address on Rue Sainte-Claire, inside the pedestrian old town
  • A lift of 80 by 130 cm in the building
  • Reserved guest parking, and pets accepted with a supplement
Why guests love it

For a family, the strongest card is the kitchen: an oven, a microwave, a toaster, a dishwasher and a Nespresso machine, plus a cot and baby equipment on request, which makes early dinners and nap schedules easy in a town where restaurants serve at fixed hours. The triplex has three sleeping spaces over three levels; the duplexes pair a king-size bed with a sofa bed. The building lift, 80 by 130 cm with a door of at least 77 cm, takes a folded pushchair, but the inner staircases of the duplex and triplex remain, and the fireplace and steam shower need an adult nearby with toddlers. Outside, the Château d'Annecy is about 200 m away and the Palais de l'Isle about 300 m, both on foot through pedestrian lanes. Pets are accepted with a supplement, so the family dog can come along.
