About this stay
The 200-year-old sequoia is the detail that makes L'Oustal unlike anything else on this list: it stands over the furnished terrace inside a genuine planted park, and guests read a book beneath it rather than in a courtyard. The house itself dates to the 19th century, and each room is uniquely decorated with a parquet floor and a marble fireplace, real ones rather than fitted reproductions, plus a private bathroom with a bath or shower. Breakfast is served every morning in the communal lounge, by the fireplace, or out on the terrace under the sequoia's canopy depending on the weather. Bourges Station is a five-minute walk, making this one of the more train-friendly historic stays in the city, while the old town centre itself is closer to 15 minutes on foot.
