Our take
The Hôtel Goodwood Caen Mémorial keeps things simple and does them well: free on-site parking, a 24-hour front desk, free WiFi and plain rooms with a private bathroom, 1.1 km from the Mémorial de Caen. There is no restaurant, so plan dinners in town. An 8.7 score from over 2,200 reviews is high for a three-star. I would book it for a car trip to Normandy built around the Mémorial and the landing beaches.
- ✓Bring your pet with confidence, this address is built around pet-friendly stays rather than treating it as an afterthought.
- ✓Use the free private parking rather than searching for a spot in central Caen.
- ✓Walk or drive to the Memorial of Caen, it is just over a kilometre away.
