About this stay

Set on the iconic Boulevard de la Croisette, the Mondrian Cannes brings a fresh face to the city's hospitality scene. Guests can choose between rooms and suites offering views of the sparkling Mediterranean or the vibrant city. The hotel's private beach, Hyde Beach Cannes, provides an exclusive spot for relaxation and sunbathing, while the Mr. Nakamoto restaurant offers a distinct dining experience. Evenings can be spent enjoying a cocktail or a light meal at the hotel bar. The location places guests within easy reach of the Palais des Festivals and the Rue d'Antibes, making it convenient for both leisure and business travellers.

  • 45 boulevard de la Croisette, former Grand Hotel site
  • 75 rooms and suites over eleven floors
  • Hyde Beach private beach club
  • Mr. Nakamoto restaurant with Asian flavours
  • About 5 minutes on foot from the Palais des Festivals
  • Gym on site

Our take

Mondrian Cannes occupies the site of the former Grand Hotel de Cannes at 45 boulevard de la Croisette, reopened in March 2023 as the first Mondrian in France. Its 75 rooms and suites rise over eleven floors, about five minutes on foot from both the Palais des Festivals and the station. Rooms face either the sea or the town, so ask which one you are getting. Downstairs, Mr. Nakamoto cooks with Asian flavours and Hyde Beach is the hotel's own stretch of sand. I would pick it for a social Croisette stay, not for a spa break: there is a gym but no spa. Its 743 reviews average 9.0.

  • ✓Rooms split between sea views and town views; on the Croisette that difference is the whole point, so confirm it in writing.
  • ✓During the Festival de Cannes in May the Palais des Festivals five minutes away draws the crowds, and the Croisette changes pace entirely.
  • ✓Hyde Beach turns lively in the evening, so light sleepers should ask for a higher floor away from the beach side.
  • ✓Mr. Nakamoto serves a Sunday brunch, a way to enjoy the hotel without booking a room.

Why we love it

  • Prime location on Boulevard de la Croisette
  • Exclusive private beach access
  • Modern design and comfortable rooms
  • Pet-friendly accommodation
Why guests love it

Mondrian Cannes suits families who want the beach on their doorstep: Hyde Beach, the hotel's private beach, sits across the Croisette, so a morning on the sand needs no car and no public-beach scramble for space. Rooms are air-conditioned, which matters in a Cannes July. The tone of the place is adult, though: the beach club serves Italian classics and cocktails and becomes livelier after dark, the restaurant leans towards an evening crowd, and there is no spa or children's club. Pets are welcome. For a family that wants a pool and organised activities, a resort-style hotel further from the Croisette fits better.
