Our take
Hôtel Moderna is a three-star I would choose in central Cherbourg for convenience: near the harbour, the casino and the station, with family rooms, free public parking, free WiFi and a buffet breakfast. A guest score of 8.5 across about 440 reviews is strong. It is a practical city hotel, so I would not expect a pool or a spa.
- ✓Explore the harbour on foot, it's just a couple of minutes from the hotel.
- ✓Take advantage of the free public parking if you're arriving by car, it's a real bonus in the city centre.
- ✓Consider a room with a flat-screen TV for evening entertainment after a day of sightseeing.
