The tides of the bay are among the strongest in Europe, so check the times before walking out on the sands, and only cross them with a guide.

I would sleep on the island at least once if the setting matters to you, accepting simple rooms for the chance to walk the lanes at night. Among the three historic addresses, I lean towards Le Mouton Blanc for its medieval character and terrace restaurant, or La Mère Poulard for its history and garden house. If you would rather have a terrace with a view of the Mont and a more modern room, Le Relais Saint Michel on the mainland is my choice.
