The kitchen is the reason this hotel stands apart: Anne-Sophie Pic's three-Michelin-starred restaurant sits on site alongside a more casual bistro, giving guests a choice between a full gourmet occasion and a lighter meal without leaving the property. Rooms use wood, leather, metal and glass finishes by designer Bruno Borrione to create matte and transparent effects, each with a desk, wardrobe and flat-screen TV, and the heated outdoor pool, open May to October, adds a genuine reason to linger between meals rather than rushing off to sightsee. Being in central Valence puts the cathedral and old town within an easy walk as well. Guests not dining at the main restaurant can still eat well at the on-site bistro, which runs at a gentler pace and price than the flagship kitchen upstairs.
